Rover Quest 2 - An International Rover Moot

Scotland: 19th - 29th August 2011 (Dates TBC)

What?

"Rovers are a Brotherhood of the Open Air and Service. They are Hikers on the Open Road and Campers of the woods, able to shift for themselves, but equally able and ready to be of some service to others"

In the United Kingdom, Rover Scouts is our section of adult scouts aged 18 and over. Rover Scouting started in 1918, but it was not until the summer of 1931 that the first International Rover Moot was held in Switzerland with 3000 Rover Scouts from all over the world. In 2011, the B-PSA UK will host Rover Quest 2. At this International Rover Moot we will celebrate 80 years since the very first Moot and also over 40 years of Baden-Powell Scouts Association being formed.

The Moot costs willi include:  Full catering, camping fee, transportation, all activities etc.   It will not include  costs for entering castles or such.  Camping will be either indoors or camping which will depend on numbers.

During the week, participants will have access to a host of activities including canoeing, white water rafting, rifle shooting, archery, a swimming pool, rock climbing, as well as cultural visits to the local area.

Estimated at between £250.00/£300.00 for the total period including expeditions and visits.

When?

The moot will Provisionally start on Sunday 21st August 2011 and finish on Saturday 27th August 2011. These dates are currently subject to confirmation, but arrangements for arriving early and leaving late shall be made (there will be an additional cost for doing so).

Where?

The camp will be held at Auchengillan Scout Centre and Camp Site. This is a fantastic site which provides all manner of facilities including both indoor and outdoor accomodation aswell as all manner of activities.

The site is ideal for Motorway connection, Glasgow Airport and main line train services. Further information on getting to the campsite will be provided in due course, however further details of public transport links are available on the Auchengillan website.

Cost?

Who?

Rover Scouts and Rover Squires may attend either as whole crews or as individuals. As such all attendees must be aged 18 years and above.

In addition: All individuals attending the event are required to have a valid CRB certificate and child protection training (or equivalent for their country of origin). Proof of this will be required before being accepted to the event.

What do you do now?

Initial bookings are required by December 2010 - no deposit is required by this date.
